Take A Picture

A flooded field,
shimmery pools in the early morning sun,
Hawthorn bush with its snowy white flowers amongst trees
downing their winter coats of ivy green.
Gorse bushes, their spiky sticks of green
topped with golden yellow flowers
invade the space between the two.
A group of cows lay in one corner
chewing the cud.
Next field over an old cottage,
with the roof caved in.
The white walls are mouldy, wet and crumbling.
Water trickles down inside,
the black window frames shine,
the black door is hanging off the hinges.
The once green tiles in the hallway
lift from their place as the rain pours in,
The Ash stands near with sticky buds on trembling twigs.
Dandelions dance the undergrowth.
Dying daffodils crumble, their leafy stalks scattered.
Daisies poke through the ground
claiming whatever space they can find.
Not a bee in sight.
The sun shines but there is no warmth.
Sun showers sprinkle the ground,
a rainbow slides across the sky.
Fluffy grey clouds get pushed and shoved
by the rough wind
