1968

Martin Luther King Jr. — murdered
Robert F. Kennedy — murdered
Rosemary’s Baby — born
I arrived too
two Olympic medalists
raised black gloved fists
touched the sky
Apollo 8’s smoke
filled the sky
mommy smoked 2 packs
I burped during 60 minutes
feminists protested
the Miss America Pageant

1973

Captain Howdy spun Regan’s
head around
360 degrees around
I liked the roundness
of Oreo cookies
while my mother worked
I watched Shirley Jones
pull a double
and her children double
billed the sidewalk
with catchy toons
I hummed a toon
and thought of
David Cassidy

1977

mom rehydrated noodles
in an artificial beef gravy mix
I mixed
grape Kool-Aid
while wearing roller skates
in the house
she yelled
NOT In The House
maybe I would fit in
on Tatooine
when his lightsaber pulsated
my seat vibrated
