Exit Poll

Where should I put

my feminist rage?

Chew it up,

swallow it,

let it sit

heavy in my gut,

undigested

for seven years?

Wrap it

in a body bag,

tie it at the knees,

dump it

in the Boston Harbor?

Deposit it into

a savings account

under my husband’s name?

Crush it

with my bare feet,

ferment it in oak barrels,

drink it alone?

Paint

my nails with it,

shiny, black, expensive,

sharpened

to points?

Or bestow it,

carefully

(a fragile

inheritance

cradled

against my chest)

upon my daughters?
