Writing Attempt
Chitter chatter lacing through
my eyes, pencils sharpened
and a thesis that doesn’t make
sense.
How can all this noise add
up to an experience? An
event observed by the
observer.
I cannot keep my hands
from cramping, from
becoming gnarled knots
of tree stumps and plant
roots.
I reach for keys on a board,
but nothing exposes itself,
becomes a naked statue saluting
a voice I’m asking for.
Silenced again.
Ten years in the making.
This is where
I’ve ended up, just resting
on the water’s edge, reaching
out and waiting for it to
arrive.
