Resolutions

time lurks
like a skeevy
kid, waiting
to score.

everything
is almost here.

the car.
winter break.
next summer,
beckoning,
better than this,
than anything
we touch
with both hands.
hot, and damp.

we fondle
very nearly
but not exactly
the future.

we don’t know
what to do
when it sits,
half-undressed,
before us.
